Why Podcast interviews don’t work for me

Posted on Thursday 18 August 2005

Some of the blogs I read are increasingly linking podcast interviews, discussions, etc. I listened to one or two, but I find the combination of the serial nature of audio, and the attention-consuming nature of listening add up to more commitment that I am willing to make. It’s so much easier to scan text to find anything of interest …

I applaud those that are experimenting in this medium, but, since I don’t have a commute or have some otherwise offline time of day that I can devote to listening, I simply won’t / can’t keep up.

With podcasting, the problem is even greater than described in David Weinberger’s excellent letter to fellow bloggers.
