RSS feeds working

Posted on Monday 6 June 2005

RSS feeds (link at bottom of this page), are now working. They were not as of this morning. They are now. I’ve tested both rss1 and rss2, as well as atom.

For the curious, I had grabbed wordpress at v 1.5.1, which had an issue, quickly patched, with the feeds. Upgrading this AM to 1.5.1.2 partially fixed the problem. I still couldn’t get rss1 (0.92) feeds to work, which is a bummer because that’s what the Thunderbird client wants, and I know a few people that want to aggregate me with Thunderbird. The problem ultimately wasn’t a wordpress problem, but rather some non-valid characters in the bloglines-generated source of my old posts. Importing the old posts didn’t clean this up, so wordpress was thus generating bad XML.

Of course it wasn’t easy to figure this out, not really what I meant to spend my day on, but there you have it.
