Peripheral Visionaries this week

Posted on Monday 2 May 2005

After a nice spell at home, it’s on the road again first to Manhattan then to Pulver’s Peripheral Visionaries policy summit in Washington Wednesday this week.

Jonathan Askin has lined up a fantastic group of policymakers, beltway types, and communications advocates for a day long panel that opens a public dialog on IP Communications.

I’m looking forward to all the panels, and especially to comments by David Isenberg, Mark Spencer,  Reed Hundt, Susan Crawford, Martin Geddes, Brough Turner, and Robert Pepper.   [Hmm, tagging all these names would take awhile, use google or follow links in the summit agenda]

Jonathan asked me to be “on the bench” for the last panel, which is a role reversal where we put ourselves in each others shoes.   Thus, I will get to play the regulator side and/or carrier side, and the regulators will play carriers and/or IP Communications companies.   Jonathan plans to “kick off” anyone who doesn’t play by the rules and slips back into their normal mind set, I am first up when someone is thus ejected.

I’ve already found it interesting and helpful to try on the government hat for this panel.   I’ll develop these thoughts into a future blog entry.

After Washington, I am in Chicago for two days, then back home.
